How Much Do You Want to Grow?

John 4:34

From Jesus' life-direction, we learn of what motivated His Spiritual growth, and what can grow ours…

1.     Jesus took on God's mission and calling as his lifestyle.

GROWTH-FACTOR #1:

 ON-GOING COMMITMENT          TO GOD'S GIVEN    MISSION              (4:34)

2.     Jesus sought to touch people to make an impact for eternity.

GROWTH FACTOR #2:

MAKING A PRIORITY TO DISCOVER YOUR     ROLE AND GIFT  IN   TOUCHING PEOPLE      FOR CHRIST (4:36)

3.     Jesus knew the humility of being part of a larger team that God uses.

GROWTH FACTOR #3:

HAVING A     HUMBLE ATTITUDE            TO WORK AS A    TEAM WITH OTHERS        UNDER CHRIST (4:37-38)

(Philippians 1:27-28)

(1 Corinthians 3:9, NKJV)

4.     Jesus lived life with urgency for eternity.

GROWTH FACTOR #4:

LEARN TO FOLLOW GOD’S CALLING NOW, NOT LATER        (4:35)

2.        LIVE IT OUT

1.        Which of these 4 factors do you feel you need most right now? Why?

2.        Of the most relevant factor, pick a question to share on:

What do you feel is God's mission for you in this season? What is the biggest challenge you face in achieving it?

What is the gift / ministry God is calling you to use or invest in this season? How do you feel when you are using that gift / ministry?

What is the biggest challenge you face in working with people? What have you learnt about yourself and others thus far?

Is there anything God has asked you to do that you have been putting off Why?

3.           Pray for one another in small groups over the need that has been shared.

3.         PRAY

4.         GOING DEEPER

a.       Do you desire that obedience to say to God, "Father, whatever you say Lord, I will follow"?

> If not, what could be the reasons?  Share and discuss in groups of 2 or 3.

[At the point we received Christ or at our baptism, did we not feel in our hearts a burning desire to follow Jesus all the way?  What happened along the way?]

b.      Did you ever make such a statement about yourself: “I am not a very good Christian because I don’t read the Bible regularly...” or “I am not a very good Christian because I don’t behave as a Christian should...”?

> Could the true reason behind these statements be your fear that people would hold you to high standards and expect you to be kind, forgiving, helpful, … and Christ-like?

> Share and discuss.

c.       Philippians 1:3-6

“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.  And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”

> What do you understand by the two conditions (underlined) that are prerequisites for God to complete His good work in Christians?

> Chart two areas you desire to grow as a disciple of Christ in 2017.
