1. SERMON RECAP
(Visit pmc.org.sg to listen to the sermon and download a
copy of the Powerpoint slides)
a. Judgment of God
Although justification is indeed by faith, judgment will be according
to works.
- Everyone will be judged on the basis of what we have done.
- Those who are God-seeking and persevere in doing good
will receive eternal life, while those who are self-seeking and do evil will
receive God¡¯s wrath.
b. Goodness of God: Gospel
- All of us can only be saved by
responding in faith to the gospel, ¡°for it is the power of God for
salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is
written, ¡°The righteous shall live by faith.¡±¡± (Rom 1:16-17)
- If you have faith in what Jesus
has done for you and His resurrection power (1 Cor
15:1-4; Rom 8:11; Phil 3:10), God will enable you to seek Him and persevere
in doing good.
2. LIVE IT OUT
a. As Romans 2:6 clearly says, God
¡°will repay each person according to what they have done". It is
so easy to comfort ourselves when we sin, thinking that it's okay and normal.
But consider our life, habits and actions over the last few years.
Has the transforming power of Christ been living and active in my life?
Have I grown both in godly character and righteous works?

What concrete steps will you take to be a better follower of Christ
this year?
b. Think of a family member,
colleague, or friend whom you get along well with. Does he have faith
in God and is he being saved by the power of the Gospel? If not, he/she
is still under God's judgment.
-
This week, ask God for an opportunity to talk to this person about His
mercy and love.

4. GOING DEEPER
a. ¡°Everyone has a conscience that
tells us what is right and wrong. This conscience can be twisted or even
seared by enough sinful input. But it is still a great
blessing from God.¡±
-
Discuss the above statement in the light of Romans 2:11-16. What
implications does it have on how we treat or relate with pre-believers?
