1. SERMON RECAP (Visit pmc.org.sg to listen to the sermon and download a copy of the Powerpoint slides) Two Types of Slavery: ¡¤
Slaves to Sin vs. Slaves to God (v 15-18) ¡¤
¡°By birth we are in Adam, the slaves of sin;
by grace and faith we are in Christ, the slaves of God.¡± (John Stott) Two Types of
Progressions: ¡¤
Moral Deterioration vs. Moral
Transformation (v 19) ¡¤
You can become who you are in Christ when you
choose to discipline your bodies ¨C your mind, eyes, ears, tongues, hands and
feet ¨C to act accordingly. Two Types of
Outcomes: ¡¤
Death vs. Life (v 20-24) ¡¤
We experience death in this
life when wechoose to be enslaved by sin: loss of integrity, family
breakdown, depression, broken relationship with God and etc. 2. LIVE IT OUT Discuss as a group a. What are some ¡®clues¡¯ that indicate there are areas of our lives that are still under slavery to sins.
b.
There is no half-way house. A person is either serving God or serving the
flesh with its lusts. What are some "common" temptations in
life that are difficult to resist? How can we as God's children make a
clean break of them?
c. If
you had previously been obedient to sin in any area of you life, describe how
it impacted your walk with God? What was the turning point which
brought you back to God?
d. Identify one area of your life that you still struggle with sin. The speaker said the key to sanctification is to : i. Know who you are in Christ and ii. To act accordingly Based on the above, what practical steps can you take to help you turn this area of your life to God?
Pray for one another at the end. 3. PRAY Please refer to the
